Workshop “Novel point-of-care platforms”
Point-of-Care (PoC) diagnosis
Whether in doctors’ offices, at clinics, or out in the field, Point-of-Care (PoC) platforms enable the fast and reliable identification of risks on a molecular level in an automated way. PoC platforms as diagnostic tools are the first step to efficient treatment of the disease they are dedicated to.
Diagnostic PoC platforms can be applied in several diverse fields, for example:
- Pathogen identification and bacterial vs. viral differentiation
- Resistance to antibiotics
- Biomarker detection/screening
Scope and target audience
The workshop aims at covering the entire value chain that point-of-care stakeholders are interested in, namely from the unmet medical needs, market niches, performance characteristitcs to the non-technical issues of reimbursement, and regulation. The invited speakers come from academia, industry, research and medical centers. The workshop appeals to a wide range of R&D scientists and engineers, medical doctors, product developers, active in microsystems technology and applications in diagnostics.
